The Insurtech Hub Munich is launching a new innovation program. The 40 international startups are working on a wide range of areas of the insurance industry, from fintech to artificial intelligence (AI) to healthcare.
For many, the topic of insurance may seem rather boring. However, for the head of the Insurtech Hub, Ben Shaw, the topic affects "every aspect, every phase of our lives." Shaw says:
"That's why our brand-new Innovation Program and its 40 participants cover a wide range of areas relevant to the industry: Fintech as well as health, solutions from the field of process automation or HR Tech, and technologies such as AI."

Over the course of the last four accelerator cycles, the Insurtech Hub has been able to expand its diverse network. This is also reflected in the diverse mix of international startups in the current batch. The Innovation Program, which has been extended to a duration of three months, gives the participating founders and their counterparts—industry experts, investors, and experienced entrepreneurs—the time they need to significantly advance their startups' business development and achieve product-market fit.

Several Munich-based startups have also made it into this round of the accelerator program. This time, these include the Munich AI startups Curiosity and Ocell, the cybersecurity startup QboundAlso from Munich are Amplitude, Fusionbase, Pyoneer, Convaise, Vitomy and Testifi. At the well-attended kick-off, all startups had one minute to present their companies. They now have two weeks to Plant1 (where the Insurtech Hub is located) to complete a Customer Development Sprint. This is followed by two rounds of business development, additional mentoring sessions, an Investor Week, and various offsite events. The best teams will pitch at Demo Day on May 14.

“Really make a difference”
Shaw explains:
“We carefully selected the 40 startups based on whether they fit the needs of our partner companies and have the potential to make a real difference.”
Together with Werk1 and all other partner companies, the Insurtech Hub Munich acts as an intermediary and supporter for all participants during and after the program.
