The portal Für-Gründer.de For the sixth year in a row, the study examines which startups emerge successfully from startup competitions and compiles a ranking of the top 50 startups based on this data. For 2019, the authors evaluated 741 startups that participated in 147 startup competitions. The Munich-based startup Blickfeld can place itself at the top of the German top 50 startups this year.
Founded in 2016, the startup Blickfeld develops and builds lidar sensors used in autonomous driving and IoT applications. Berlin-based Mediaire, which develops AI-based software for radiology, takes second place. Potsdam-based Voize takes third place with a digital voice assistant for nursing documentation.
8 Munich startups in the For Founders ranking
Nine of the top 50 startups in the ranking come from Bavaria. Eight of the nine Bavarian start-ups come directly from Munich. In addition to Blickfeld, these are Ebenbuild (8), Mecuris (22), Presize.ai (32), Qbound (33), Mk2 Biotechnologies (42), Deepc (46) and Vitomy (49). Only the federal state of Berlin has more startups in the ranking, with 12. Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia each have six top startups.
In recent years, startups from Bavaria, and especially from Munich, have dominated the country comparison in the Für-Gründer.de ranking. last year 15 of the top startups are from Bavaria, 12 of which are from the Munich area. The Munich region thus had more representatives on the list than any other federal state. In previous years, Munich startups also occupied more places on the list than any other German federal state. Two years ago, Inveox Just like this year, a Munich company took the top spot.
