Insurtech Hub Munich launches “Collab Initiative”

The Insurtech Hub Munich is launching the new "Collab Initiative." This initiative aims to open up new opportunities for collaboration between established insurance companies and tech scaleups.

With an innovation, the Insurtech Hub Munich (ITHM) is entering the new year. The "Collab Initiative" — or "Collab" for short — is designed to connect ITHM member companies with tech scaleups—startups that have already established a product or service on the market and are successfully collaborating with corporate clients.

“Large companies have resources and strong brand perceptions that aspiring entrepreneurs can greatly benefit from,”

explained Marco Affonseca, Head of Global Innovation at ITHM, explains the approach of the new initiative. He continues:

"The founders, in turn, bring agility and fresh ideas that can be immensely valuable to established companies. Joining forces therefore benefits both sides enormously."

Direct access to the destination

At the start of the “Collab Initiative” in early February, representatives of ITHM member companies were able to Plant1 Twenty scaleups selected by ITHM will be introduced to pitch sessions. The Insurtech Hub thus provides its members with access to new business models and innovative technologies that are ready for immediate use and can be integrated into corporate processes. Affonseca is confident:

"Going it alone often leads to the goal only via numerous detours, if at all. Real innovation works differently! The new secret recipe is based on a well-known, but unfortunately sometimes forgotten, ingredient: collaboration. This applies equally to large companies and fast-growing startups."

ITHM in the mediating role

The ITHM acts as a mediator and accompanies both sides during the initial phase of getting to know each other, during the development of joint business models, and also after the end of the “Collab” program, which lasts a few weeks.

“To do justice to the oft-used term 'disruption,' established and new players must collaborate, recognize each other's strengths, and leverage them together. Only together can we actively shape the future!”

said Affonseca.
