Munich Startup Award: UniteLabs is the best Munich startup 2025

The 9th Munich Startup Award goes to UniteLabs. This entitles the biotech startup to the title of "Best Munich Startup 2025."

At the Munich Startup Festival, the final for the spot as the best Munich startup 2025 was hotly contested. Five finalists qualified for the Munich Startup Award 2025, namely Omegga, Peak Qantum, UniteLabs, Munnai and Exomatter.

Ultimately, UniteLabs The jury was impressed by its idea for an open platform for the automation and digitalization of laboratory processes in the life sciences. The Munich-based biotech company's technology enables the networking of devices and software from different manufacturers. Users can develop customized workflows and implement them efficiently. The goal is a future-proof laboratory architecture that accelerates research and is flexibly adaptable. In addition to the trophy, the winning startup can look forward to €10,000 in prize money.

The Munich Startup Awards ceremony took place backstage immediately after the pitching round at the Munich Startup Festival. Together with Arno Eggers, Head of Munich Startup, Gabriele Riedl, Business Development Manager at Messe München, this year's winning team. Eggers said:

"Selecting the winning startup from almost 300 applications was no easy task for the jury! But that's precisely the strength of the Munich Startup Award: highlighting real highlights. We're convinced we'll be hearing a lot more from this year's winner, UniteLabs, and we're delighted to be able to support it with the €10,000 prize money."

Munich Startup Award, a special prize – and a portafilter machine

The winning team was very happy about the award. Robert Zechlin, Co-CEO and founder of UniteLabs, accepted the award and explained what this prize means to him:

"The Munich Startup Award means recognition to me, and also a certain satisfaction to receive a small accolade in the Munich startup scene. The scene is very competitive; there are so many great companies here – just like the four competitors who were on stage with me today. The award also shows that what we do is well received not only by customers, the market, and ourselves, but also by the Munich community. The prize also means a portafilter coffee machine – I promised that to my team."

There was also a special prize to be won, supported by Techprnrs. UniteLabs impress the Innovation World Cup jury. As the winner of the Innovation World Cup Special Prize, the Munich-based biotech startup will receive an exclusive presentation slot at the Medica Innovation Forum 2025, on the main stage of the world's largest healthcare event.
