On 27 September, Munich’s Mayor Schmid presented the 1st Munich Startup Award, endowed with 5,000 euros, at the Founder Festival Bits & Pretzels. Winner is Cleverciti Systems.
The Munich startup was able to compete against around 70 other companies from the region in the pitch competition at the founders’ festival “Bits & PretzelsA high-profile jury of renowned investors selected the winning company in a multi-stage process. The prize, endowed with €5,000, is awarded by Munich Startup, the official startup portal for Munich.
Startups support economic development
Munich's Economic Mayor and Oktoberfest director Josef Schmid presented the award today, Tuesday, at the Bits & Pretzels Wiesn networking event. Mayor Schmid commented on the award ceremony:
I'm delighted to present the first Munich Startup Award today to a young and innovative Munich company. After all, startups play an important role in the sustainable economic development of our city. This deserves to be promoted and honored!
Munich Startup Award: Entrepreneurial courage pays off
The Munich Commercial and Technology Center GmbH (MGH), a holding company of the City of Munich and sponsor of Munich Startup, supports the Munich Startup Award and donates the cash prize.
Gabriele Böhmer, editorial director of Munich Startup and member of the jury, praises the winners:
"Cleverciti is enriching Munich's startup scene with a pioneering, innovative smart city solution. By presenting the 'Munich Startup Award,' we want to reward Cleverciti for its entrepreneurial courage and commitment and set an example."
One of Munich Startup's goals is to raise the visibility of Munich's startup scene. The Munich Startup Award, which will be presented on the portal's first anniversary, is intended to contribute to this goal.
