The Munich Startup Award 2019 goes to Hawa Dawa

The winner of the Munich Startup Award 2019 has been announced: On 1 October, Clemens Baumgärtner, head of labor and economics, opened the networking day of the Founders Festival Bits & Pretzels at the Munich Oktoberfest in the Schottenhamel tent and awarded the prize worth 5,000 euros to the Munich startup Hawa Dawa.

Each year, the special prize is awarded to the Munich-based startup that performed best in the pitch contest at Bits & Pretzels. Sponsored by Munich Startup, the award is intended to highlight the innovative strength of Munich startups and promote young entrepreneurs based there. Clemens Baumgärtner on this:

"The innovative power of Munich's startups definitely deserves an award. The Munich Startup Award recognizes young companies that offer impressive solutions to the challenges of our time. This provides positive impetus for Munich's economy and the future of our city."

At the pitch contest at the Bits & Pretzels start-up fair, Hawa Dawa prevailed against the Munich competition. Co-founder and CFO Yvonne Rusche is delighted with the honor:

"We are very proud to win the Munich Startup Award as a 'Münchner Kindl'. It demonstrates the incredible support of the Munich ecosystem."

The Munich-based IoT startup has developed an AI-based system for clean air in cities. Hawa Dawa plans to use the €5,000 prize money for research and development.

In recent years, other top-class Munich-based startups have already been honored with this award. In 2016, the Smart City startup Clevercity, In 2017, the online meta search engine Catchys won the race and In 2018 the award went to Inveox.
