#FutureLab Hackathon

Technology meets Journalism!

At the #FutureLab Hackathon, you can develop prototypes for the journalism of the day after tomorrow together with top-class tech and media partners.

What does journalism look like in the smart home? What does it look like in smart mobility? How can AI support us with news, and what are already possible with AR and wearables?

Let's bring the tech and media industries together and hack together! You'll get exclusive access to the technologies of:

  • Lufthansa Flying Lab
  • Bragi
  • AX Semantics
  • IBM
  • ASUS

And the content and APIs of our media partners:

  • Süddeutsche Zeitung
  • t3n
  • xMinutes
  • Red Bull Media House
  • DRadio

Work with participants from the media industry, developers, and designers on prototypes for the content of the day after tomorrow. Whether it's applications or storytelling formats, content tech or services, the options are completely open. Let your creativity run wild!

WORKSHOPS

The tech and media partners will present their technologies in advance at five evening workshops.

Of course, you can also participate in the hackathon if you can't make it to one of the workshops!

What does that mean specifically?

Each of thematic tracks is managed by a team of tech and media partners. Lufthansa and xMinutes, for example, are supporting the Smart Mobility track, AX Semantics, and t3n the Artificial Intelligence track. Together with representatives from both, you will work in small teams to develop concrete prototypes. You will have access to our partners' diverse technologies, APIs, developer platforms, and content. Our partners will also support you with technical and content expertise. The teams will also be supported by our Design Thinking coaches.

What can you take with you?

You'll have the unique opportunity to collaborate with people who can provide you with firsthand insights into a specific future technology. Together, you'll develop prototypes. The best ideas and teams will be rewarded with prizes and have the opportunity to continue developing their prototypes.

What do you need to bring?

The hackathon is open to media makers, designers, and developers! Are you a fast thinker who likes to come up with innovative concepts and think outside the box? Great! No prior technical knowledge is required.
