Smart Mobility meets Journalism | #FutureLab workshop

SMART MOBILITY MEETS JOURNALISM

Invent the future of journalism with us!

How will we experience journalism in a smart airplane in 2025? The future of mobility is individual and flexible: from a car-sharing vehicle onto a train, getting off at the airport, and boarding a plane. Mobility is becoming increasingly smarter – how can journalism fit into these environments? What technologies, content, and formats are needed for this?

#FUTURELAB WORKSHOP

In the #FutureLab, we want to work with you to invent the journalism of the day after tomorrow. How can news use new technologies to their advantage? In a three-hour workshop, you'll develop initial ideas for smart mobility—together with our tech partner Lufthansa and our media partner xMinutes.

The Lufthansa Flying Lab are experimental flights offered by Lufthansa, currently focusing on specific topics, such as Fashion Week in New York or the SXSW tech conference in Austin. How can this experience be complemented with journalism? What stories do we want to read, see, and experience with and in the technology of an aircraft?

xMinutes As a media partner, it brings us stories exactly when we need them. The app bundles content from various media outlets and delivers it to us in exactly the amount of time we have.

At the evening workshop, Lufthansa's Flying Lab will present its technology and vision for smart mobility, and xMinutes will present SmartOrchestra's test data and its Publisher API.

Together with our coaches, we'll then use the design thinking method to develop initial ideas for what journalism could look like in the smart home. You can then turn these ideas into working prototypes at a hackathon on June 9–11, 2017.
