Applications are now open.

Interested startups can submit their Ideas can now be directed to the WavelabApplications for the incubator can be submitted at any time via the Application form The programs are aimed at students and graduates from across Germany who want to explore new avenues with their ideas in the fields of music, visual arts, performing arts, film, and broadcasting using new technologies. The focus could be on technologies such as virtual and augmented reality, machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI), data science, and the Internet of Things (IoT). We are looking for teams of at least two founders who are willing to dedicate their time entirely to their startup during their time in Wavelab. The incubator is scheduled to launch in February 2021. All participating startups will receive coaching, workspaces in Munich's art district, and feedback from experts in the creative industry.

The Wavelab is affiliated with the Institute for Cultural Management and Media at the HMTM. The new institution will further develop the experience the institute has already gained in the field of cultural entrepreneurship through its master's program in 'Cultural and Music Management'.

“It is time for the arts and digitalization to mutually enrich each other more.”

Maurice Lausberg, Head of the Institute for Cultural Management and Media and initiator of Wavelab, says:

"From the very beginning, our Cultural Management program has focused on cultural entrepreneurship. So, it's only a logical step to use the Wavelab program to promote the entrepreneurial steps of artistic and creative students and alumni from the ground up."

And Bernd Redmann, President of the HMTM, continues:

"It's time for the arts and digitalization to become more mutually beneficial. The Wavelab, as an interdisciplinary venue for artistic and technological innovation, plays an important role in this. I hope for many pioneering ideas and developments that will have a lasting impact on the cultural life of our society."
