Hechinger Group takes over Molabo

Molabo will continue to operate as an independent company after the acquisition. The two founders, Florian Bachheibl and Adrian Patzak, will also remain on board.

The Munich startup Molabo produces electric drives. Molabo's distinctive feature is its focus on touch-safe high-performance drives, which do not require complex high-voltage safety measures, even at outputs of 50 kW. As has now been announced, the startup, founded in 2016, will be acquired by the Hechingen-based group. Molabo will continue to operate as an independent company and intends to further expand the development of its technology and marine products. The combination of Molabo's development expertise and Hechinger's production and scaling knowledge is intended to create synergies and further advance both companies in the e-mobility sector. Markus Duffner, Managing Director of Hechingen Group, about future cooperation:

"Molabo will maintain its strong position in the product business, particularly in the marine sector, while simultaneously driving its global expansion. Furthermore, the production of drive systems will be increased to prepare for expansion into the industrial and, in the long term, the automotive sectors, with Molabo playing a central role in product development within the Hechingen-based group."

“Far more than a business transaction”

Molabo COO Adrian Patzak added:

"This acquisition is far more than a business transaction. It signals deep confidence in the shared future and innovative strength of both companies."

Molabo's management team will now be strengthened by Markus Duffner as the new CEO, while Adrian Patzak and Florian Bachheibl will retain their roles as COO and CTO, respectively. Leigh Hooper will assume the position of CFO.

Currently on a transformation course

The Hechingen-based group has been a strategic investor in Molabo since 2019 and has since taken over the production and quality assurance of the drives. The family-owned company, which offers sustainable solutions in areas such as magnet system manufacturing, component manufacturing for BLDC motors, electronics services, hybrid electromechanical assemblies, and increasingly also for e-mobility, is currently undergoing a transformation course with investments in the fields of e-mobility and renewables.
