For four years, the Ottobrunn-based company operated under the name Volabo. After Startup officially registered its name, a corporation objected to the trademark. Years later, the decision has now been made: Volabo must rename itself and will therefore be called Molabo with immediate effect. The company already has a derivation for its new name: Molabo stands for 'Motor Laboratory'. The logo will only be slightly adjusted.
"When we registered the trademark 'Volabo,' we naturally conducted all the necessary background checks with the help of our lawyers. Everything looked good,"
says the managing director Adrian Patzak,
“But of course, not everything always goes as planned.”
Competitors have the opportunity to file an opposition within three months of the date of publication of the registration of a trademark.
“On the last day of the deadline, an objection was filed against the name ‘Volabo’,”
says Patzak.
“As a young company, you usually don’t have much chance against the legal departments of such large corporations.”
