Global Goals Lab is looking for social entrepreneurs

The Global Goals Lab brings together people and ideas that promote sustainable development on an economic, social, and ecological level. Startups committed to reducing inequality or improving working conditions can apply for a total of €35,000 in funding from the initiative until October 31.

With their 17 Sustainable Development Goals The United Nations aims to ensure economic, social, and ecological development worldwide. Many startups active in the areas of sustainability or social issues are guided by these goals. The Global Goals Lab, a joint initiative of Deutsche Bank and Social Impact, is also guided by these goals and supports social entrepreneurs.

In a six-month program, social initiatives will have the opportunity to network, receive expert advice on further developing or scaling their business models, and receive financial support totaling €35,000. Initiatives committed to one or more of the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can apply until October 31: No Poverty, Quality Education, Gender Equality, Decent Jobs, and Reduced Inequalities.

Interested social entrepreneurs can apply until 31 October apply online for participationAll applicants who meet the formal participation requirements can then participate in a future camp on November 12, 2020. In this digital bar camp, social entrepreneurs will work together with employees of the project initiators to develop solutions to current challenges facing our society. This year's focus is on how to reduce inequalities at home and abroad and improve working conditions.

The Future Camp is followed by the collaboration phase. From November 16 to February 26, participants meet weekly with employees of the project initiators in small groups to support each other and test innovative working methods. In monthly digital retrospectives, participants reflect on their experiences and exchange ideas.

The Global Goals community will then select its favorites from among all participants of the Future Camp in a public vote. From these, a jury – consisting of representatives from Social Impact and Deutsche Bank – will select the nine participants for the challenge in Frankfurt. From April 19 to 22, 2021, coaches and experienced experts will support the selected social initiatives in developing solutions to specific business challenges. Six social initiatives will qualify for the public pitch for the Impact Fund, a prize for social startups awarded since 2016. An expert jury will decide on the award of the total prize money of €35,000.
