Agrando closes multi-million seed financing round

Agrando is receiving millions in capital from several European investors. The Munich-based startup aims to digitize the agricultural sector.

The seed round is led by European VC fund June, London-based family office JLR Star, and agtech investor Baltic Venture. Several business angels are also participating. Together, they are investing a seven-figure sum. Florian Schindler, Co-Founder of the June Fund, says:

"We are looking for founders who are fundamentally changing the industries they address. The vast European agricultural trade business is certainly ripe for such change. We firmly believe that Agrando is uniquely positioned to address this exciting market. We are very impressed by Jonathan's industry expertise and vision and are excited to support the Agrando team in making this happen."

The co-founder and CEO of Agrando, Jonathan Bernwieser, is the son of a farmer and a business information technology specialist. He says:

"Agrando is becoming a comprehensive IT-supported solution provider for agriculture. Our goal is to create a future-proof agriculture by providing farms of all sizes with access to a fair, transparent market and helping them make strategically sound decisions with data-based services. The high level of interest shows us that we are on the right track with our offering."

Agrando offers benefits for farmers, traders and manufacturers

Farmers can use the platform, launched in 2017, to request products from retailers, compare offers, and centrally document orders. The purchasing process follows the traditional method. The startup also supports its customers with business planning. Agrando reviews business metrics for optimization potential and aggregates orders. This is designed to help farmers obtain better purchase prices.

The platform is designed to help agricultural retailers increase customer loyalty and sales. Agrando analyzes retailers' key performance indicators and provides independent recommendations for sales optimization. Manufacturers of agricultural inputs can advertise their products on the platform and monitor market trade.
