The Münchner Technologiezentrum (MTZ) at its current location in Agnes-Pockels-Bogen. The MTZ offers startups and the ecosystem approximately 10,000 square meters of office space and a strong network. To mark its anniversary, the tenants showcased their high-tech products.
A whole series of Munich success stories began at MTZ — from the world’s largest feedback platform TrustYou to the solar car manufacturer Sono MotorsA total of 160 companies have resided in the technology center over the past ten years. Cristina Mann explains the advantages of her company for young companies:
"Ambitious growth targets from a business plan can't always be met. If a startup overplans its space requirements from the outset, Munich's high rents would quickly become a problem. At MTZ, founders can start small and then rent or downsize space as their actual growth takes place—without changing their company address. This rental flexibility is a huge advantage in Munich. Add to that our range of services and consulting, as well as an innovative environment. These are ideal conditions for startups."
Theme park and panel discussion for MTZ's birthday
The Technology Center celebrated its anniversary yesterday with a ceremony. In a theme park in the MTZ foyer, some of the Technology Center's current tenants presented themselves, including Hepa Wash, HR Instruments, Agrando, Munevo, kiwiHR and Uniscon. A panel discussion provided more information on innovation in the city of Munich. After a brief welcome by Cristina Mann, the discussion was moderated by Carsten Rudolph, Managing Director of investor network BaystartUP, which is also based at the MTZ. Mayor Josef Schmid, Head of the Department of Labor and Economic Development, sat on the podium alongside Sebastian von Bomhard, Veronika Riederle, and Christian Herrmann.

The panelists represented the past, present, and future of the building: Sebastian von Bomhard is CEO of SpaceNet AG. The German internet provider was based at the MTZ, but grew so rapidly that it eventually had to leave the technology center. Christian Herrmann, Managing Director of the software developer, represents Phenomenon a current MTZ tenant. The co-founder and managing director of the Munich startup Demo desk Veronika Riederle will probably move into the technology center with her company in the near future.
