At the heart of the collaboration between Munich-based startup Agile Robots and Google is the integration of Google DeepMind's Gemini Robotics basic models into Agile Robots' hardware and robotics solutions. The startup aims to develop robots that can adapt more flexibly to industrial tasks.
Agile Robots contributes its scalable industrial platforms and other AI robotics solutions, while Google DeepMind provides the Gemini Robotics basic models. Agile Robots This will improve the use of robots, data collection, model training, and system development.
Focus on industrial applications
Initially, the partnership will focus on industrial applications. Specifically mentioned are tasks in industry and production where reliable and scalable automation is required. The focus is therefore on environments where robotic systems must function reliably under real-world conditions, such as in assembly, visual quality control, or the gripping and sorting of components.
Zhaopeng Chen, CEO and founder of Agile RobotsChen says the company has already installed more than 20,000 robotics solutions worldwide and sees the collaboration as the next step towards autonomous and intelligent production systems. Chen says:
"By integrating Google DeepMind's Gemini Robotics models into our robotics solutions, we are positioning ourselves at the forefront of this rapidly growing market."
Google DeepMind also classifies the cooperation as a step towards AI models for the next generation of robots. Carolina Parada, Senior Director and Head of Robotics at Google Deep Mind, says:
"This research partnership is an important step towards transferring the impact of AI into the real world."
Agile Robots combines research and industrial application in its collaboration. The systems are not only to be developed, but also continuously improved during operation.
Data from the company as a training basis
At the heart of the partnership is a cycle of training, deployment, and testing. Data from real-world operation will be used to improve the models. These improved models will then be used to expand the robots' capabilities, leading to additional applications.
For Agile Robots, the partnership marks the next step in more closely integrating its robotics systems with adaptive AI models. For the Munich-based startup, the collaboration also demonstrates how models from AI research can be translated into concrete industrial applications.
