Brainlab becomes platinum partner of TUM Venture Labs

The Munich-based medtech company Brainlab and TUM Venture Labs are entering into a partnership. Brainlab will contribute not only financial support but also its expertise in medical technology.

As a platinum partner in the healthcare sector, the Munich-based medtech company Brainlab will provide TUM Venture Labs with millions of euros in funding. Brainlab specializes in digital medical technologies and the intelligent use of imaging data. As part of the partnership, the Munich-based company will also contribute its expertise in medical technology and the international implementation of medical innovations. The labs, operated by the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and UnternehmerTUM, will be TUM Venture Labs support startup activities and company foundations by students and researchers with a funding program.

Families of startups

To ensure that not just individual startups but entire families of startups can emerge, the ecosystem of TUM and UnternehmerTUM aims to establish a connection to top-level international research and ensure networking with top-class partners. In total, there are currently eleven TUM Venture Labs for different subject areas such as robotics / AI, aerospace or quantum technology.

The TUM Venture Lab Healthcare focuses on innovations in drug development, digital health, and medical technology. It also focuses on technologies for integrating and improving the use of medical data through the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Also the Bavarian Government and the Strüngmann family of entrepreneurs have already provided funds to support the TUM Venture Labs.

Brainlab is not unknown in the Munich startup scene: in 2019, the medtech company acquired the Medical robotics startup Medineering.
