Terraplasma Medical and Viromed announced an exclusive distribution agreement this week. This means that the 'Plasma Care' product line developed by Terraplasma Medical, which uses cold atmospheric plasma in medical technology, will be distributed exclusively through Viromed. Viromed supplies acute care hospitals, general and rehabilitation hospitals, and nursing homes with infection control products.
Benefits for the healthcare system
In 2019, the Munich-based startup Terraplasma Medical developed Plasma Care for wound treatment, a portable medical device for treating wounds using cold atmospheric plasma. The goal of the collaboration between Terraplasma Medical and Viromed is to bring the Plasma Care technology to widespread use in hospitals and care facilities, as well as among physicians and mobile care services in the DACH region. This is expected to bring benefits to the healthcare system, such as reducing care and dressing costs for chronic wounds or wounds infected with multi-resistant pathogens. Another example: In dermatology, the use of this technology could reduce the use of anti-inflammatory medications.
Goal: Broad market breakthrough
Jens Kirsch, CEO of Terraplasma Medical, is looking forward to the upcoming sales cooperation:
“With Viromed, we have gained an extremely strong sales partner who will achieve a broad market breakthrough for plasma medicine and our Plasma Care products.”
