Unicorn Pitch is looking for Female Founders

The next Unicorn Pitch aims to raise awareness of female startup founders. Therefore, it will take place at the end of June as a special edition for female founders from the DACH region. Female founders can apply until June 6.

Startup Network's Unicorn Pitch will take place online on June 30, 2021. For one afternoon, female founders will pitch their business ideas to a female jury and thus have the opportunity to find new partners, investors, and customers. “#25to25 – The Female Founder Pitch” is the first and unique pitch event of this size for female founders and investors as well as interested spectators in the entire DACH region.

The mission's primary initiator is Irène Kilubi, founder and managing director of Brandpreneurs & Brandfluencers. Her strategic partner is Svenja Lassen, Managing Director Germany of the Austrian investor network Primecrowd. Prominent supporters include film producer and investor Susanne Porsche, Spiegel bestselling author and Klitschko Ventures CEO Tatjana Kiel, IUBH Chancellor Alexandra Wuttig, and Wayra Managing Director Katrin Bacic. The organizers receive additional support from Strascheg Center for Entrepreneurship SCE and Kölnbusiness Wirtschaftsförderung.

The proportion of women in the start-up scene should be increased to 25 percent

Svenja Lassen, initiator of the Female Investors Network from Primecrowd, explains:

"More female investors lead to more female founders. It's about the role models these women serve as – that's why it's so important to make them visible and actively connect with female founders."

In 2020, Lassen founded the Female Investors Network and, with a specially initiated study, demonstrated that women primarily want to invest in impact and female founders. Together with initiator and organizer Irène Kilubi, she is launching "#25to25 – The Female Founder Pitch." They aim to increase the proportion of women in the startup ecosystem in the DACH region from the current 16 percent to 25 percent by 2025. She is convinced:

"We need significantly more role models of female founders and investors who encourage, inspire, and, above all, motivate other women to take action. This makes it all the more important to offer women of all ages a prominent and international platform where they can showcase their ambitions and talents."

Female founders can apply until 6 June to take part in the Female Founders Pitch apply onlineBased on the results of the jurors' online voting, the startup with the highest score will be crowned the winner of the Unicorn Pitch on June 30. The startup will then be able to represent the region at the Unicorn Battle Western Europe on July 1, 2021, with the potential to represent the DACH region at the Unicorn Cup Final on November 4, 2021.
