7 Munich Female Founders You Should Know

According to the Female Founders Monitor, 165 of 1,510 startups in Munich have a woman on their founding team, which is just 10.9 percent. Nationwide, however, the proportion of female founders averaged 19 percent between 2016 and 2018, according to the KfW (KfW German Development Bank). So, Munich has some catching up to do. Until then, we'll introduce you to some of Munich's female founders who serve as role models for other women and can inspire them to start their own businesses.

Lena Jüngst from Air Up: Together with four co-founders, Lena Jüngst founded the Munich-based startup Air Up, a drinking bottle with an aroma capsule. as she says in an interview with Munich Startup, the best decision of her life: "As an employed product designer, you have very little influence on the product development process and little say when it comes to what kind of products the company develops. […] but with Air Up, I took the chance to realize my ideas." And success proves her right, like a Series A financing of 18 million euros at the beginning of the year. (Photo: Air Up)
