Bits & Pretzels may look a little different in the Corona year 2020 – longer, online, and without Oktoberfest – but one thing remains: the 'Golden Pretzel'. This year, 70 startups in eight industry clusters will once again compete for the coveted pretzel at the Bits & Pretzels Startup Pitch. For Munich startups, the Munich Startup AwardThe prize, worth 5,000 euros, will be awarded to the most promising Munich startup during the Bits & Pretzels Startup Pitch.
“Show, don't tell”
Interested startups can apply for the pitch competition until August 21st with apply with a one-minute video. Requirements for participation:
- A product or an MPV should be available, according to the motto: “Show, don't tell”.
- The startups should not have received more than Series A financing so far.
The application video will be followed by voting. Participating startups then have until September 13 to collect as many votes as possible. The eight startups that receive the most votes will each receive a wildcard for the semifinals.
The actual pitch competition will take place as part of the 'Bits & Pretzels Networking Week'. The preliminary rounds will take place in the eight industry clusters from September 28 to October 1, followed by the grand pitch final on October 2.

Additional opportunity for Munich startups
This is also where it is decided which Munich startup will receive the Munich Startup Award and the 5,000 euros. In recent years, Catchys, Hawa Dawa and Cleverciti to the winning teams. All Munich teams that make it into the Bits & Pretzels Startup Pitch selection automatically qualify for the award; a separate application is not required.
