The business initiative 'Wissensfabrik' is looking together with UnternehmerTUM Participants in the Weconomy 2020 competition. This year, the focus is on female founders. Applications are open until July 6.
The jury chairman says that the focus on female founders at Weconomy is intended to set an example this year. Burkhard Schwenker:
"Creative ideas and technological innovations play an important role, especially in times of COVID-19. This creativity can be more successful when women are on board. Diversity counts—and we will find good role models for this."
Access to the Weconomy 2020 network
Following the application phase, the 20 most promising startups will be selected. The finalists will pitch to a jury in Berlin on September 16. The winners will have the opportunity to discuss their business models with managers and network on October 15 and 16.
Startups that have been on the market for less than five years, are headquartered in Germany, and have at least one woman on their founding team are eligible to apply. The winners receive access to the initiative's startup network and free consulting.
A whole series of Munich-based startups have won the competition in recent years. In the last two years alone, Blickfeld, Celus, Fairfleet, Kumovis, Urmo and User lane to the winners.
