Spyra is bringing the crowd on board. The Munich-based water pistol startup is launching its crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter today.
The campaign aimed to raise at least €51,000—a goal that, by the way, was already achieved within a short time! Campaign supporters can then expect their own water pistol made by Spyra in 12 months. So, the outlook for summer 2019 is good. Rike Brand, co-founder of Spyra, we wanted to know a little more about the preparation of her crowdfunding campaign and what advice she would give to other founders who are also thinking about crowdfunding.
Hello Rike, what went well in the preparation of your crowdfunding campaign?
The team spirit over the past few weeks has been incredible. As founders, it was only natural that we'd give it our all. But what the entire team achieved during numerous night shifts to polish our water pistols for the campaign was simply insane.
What went completely wrong?
Some factors are simply out of our control... And so our nice schedule has blown up in our faces on more than one occasion.
Was there a moment when you wanted to give up everything?
Give it up? Never! But when, after weeks of a super summer, rain was forecast for every day of filming and we had to postpone the Kickstarter lake party for the third time, a bit of stress erupted.
And what happened then?
On the third date, it finally worked – and our friends rocked the party with the Spyra Ones. Check it out in Kickstarter video to!
What are you most proud of about the campaign?
That we've come this far. When we decided together over two years ago to build the Spyra One, we had no idea about the long road to product development. And now we've built a truly ingenious water pistol that you just have to hand to anyone, and it'll go off without a hitch. We now want to achieve this everywhere in the world.
What advice would you give to other founders who are thinking about launching a crowdfunding campaign?
Most projects on Kickstarter these days are incredibly professionally run. Don't underestimate the time and financial investment required to run a high-quality campaign. Nevertheless, one thing has always been our primary focus: our strong community, some of whom have been eagerly anticipating the Spyra One campaign launch with us for months. We have complete confidence in them and our strong product – we'll see how it pans out.
