With QoLware and ATR Elements Two teams from the TU Munich and UnternehmerTUM made it to the finals of the Start Tel Aviv competition. Let's Yalla is also the third Munich-based startup to reach the final round. This year's competition will take place in 30 countries, from which the 30 best startups will fly to Tel Aviv for a week. This time, the focus is on women who have founded startups.
A jury has selected the three finalists from the applications of German teams Cristina Soaz Gonzales for QoLware, Anja Müller for ATR Elements and Katharina Seehuber selected for Let's Yalla. The founders will present their startup at this year's Long Night of Startups in Berlin. The winner will participate in workshops in Tel Aviv alongside the other international teams and Israeli startups, establishing contacts with Israeli and international companies, business angels, scientists, and developers.
“Quality of Life” for a better life
The acronym "QoL" stands for "Quality of Life" and expresses the core idea of the QoLware founding team: to develop products that maintain and improve people's quality of life. The startup has developed a mobile, sensor-based application that transforms smartwatches into "Intelligent Personal Emergency Response" (PERS) systems. The intelligent app records physiological signals such as heart rate, body temperature, and physical activity, thus monitoring health status. The system can detect emergency situations, communicate with caregivers, and automatically send emergency calls.
More accurate and affordable: Blood analysis with ATR Elements
For several years, the widely used ATR infrared spectroscopy has been used to analyze blood for research purposes. It determines blood levels in laboratories and can diagnose diseases such as cancer or malaria. ATR Elements offers a key element for the leap into clinical practice: a sample carrier that is 100 times cheaper and therefore suitable for single-use. Significantly higher sensitivity ensures greater diagnostic accuracy. Only a single drop of blood is required, eliminating centrifugation. The ATR Elements team of scientists recently took second place in Phase 2 of the 2016 Munich Business Plan Competition.
Be spontaneous with Let's yalla
With Let's Yalla, users can book cheap flights for the next day only. The startup uses a user-friendly, simple app to find remaining seats on flights departing the next day from the nearest airport. A travel app for those who decide at the last minute.
