Helsing, a leading European defense technology company, and Arx Robotics, a specialist in unmanned, software-defined land systems, are joining forces. The goal is to digitize, network, and equip the previously analog and fragmented land sector with AI. This will enable armed forces to operate faster, more precisely, and more efficiently in combat situations – even over longer distances.
Both startups draw on experience from Ukraine, where networked technologies are already crucial in the land sector. Their partnership has a clear European focus: In addition to Ukraine, projects in the UK and Germany are also on the agenda.
Gundbert Scherf, Co-CEO of Helsing, emphasizes:
"Arx is leading the field in unmanned land systems. And by strengthening the land sector together, we are fulfilling Helsing's promise: to protect European democracies through technological leadership."
Marc Wietfeld, CEO of Arx Robotics, adds:
"With Helsing, we have found a best-in-class partner who will help us achieve technological leaps in the European defense sector. For example, we will work together in the UK, Ukraine, and Germany to give European and Ukrainian armed forces a technological advantage."
Munich roots, European mission
Arx Robotics was founded in Munich in 2022. The founders are former Bundeswehr officers with the mission intelligent, autonomous ground systems for modern military applications. Several European armies, including Ukraine, are already using their systems.
Helsing was founded in 2021 and positions itself as a defense company for AI-based solutions to protect European democracies. In addition to software, the Startup now also drones, aircraft, and underwater drones. Since a financing round in summer 2024, Helsing has been considered a unicorn.
