Heytimi has been offering online tutoring since 2020. Students could choose from numerous tutors and private tutors in a wide variety of subjects via the platform. In 2022, the three founders Ben Dietrich, David Kanis, and Martin Schneid convinced investors APX and Companisto to invest a total of €1.2 million in their startup. In December 2023 Heytimi then went bankrupt.
As the Munich-based company has now announced, it was acquired by the Berlin-based edtech company Cleverly on December 22nd. Cleverly also offers online tutoring, but also mentoring programs in areas such as self-confidence, self-organization, and social skills. In addition to the brand and customers, Cleverly also secured some of the Munich-based company's employees and tutors. While the brand will remain under the name "Heytimi by Cleverly" for the time being, the offerings are now those of the Berlin-based company. Via LinkedIn The Munich residents let us know:
"We are closing the Heytimi platform today. We are proud of the journey we have shared with the children, parents, and tutors over the past few years, and we thank you for your trust and support. Every journey leads to new horizons. We invite all Heytimi families and tutors to continue their educational journey with Cleverly.de – Mentoring for Kids. There you will find many familiar faces and can seamlessly continue your learning journey."
Like Heytimi, Cleverly was founded in 2020, but raised significantly more capital, totaling approximately €8.6 million. The startup is backed by investors including Rubio Impact Ventures, Emma Ventures, Capnamic, Florian Langenscheidt, Verena Pausder, Lea-Sophie Cramer, and the Flixbus founders.
