In addition to IQ Capital and Earlybird, Onsight Ventures, First Momentum, Creator Fund, and UnternehmerTUM also invested a total of €3 million in Quantum Diamonds. In addition, the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator and the Free State of Bavaria provided €4 million in funding.
Quantum Diamonds developed atom-sized quantum sensors, which enable non-destructive imaging of magnetic fields at the nanoscale. To achieve this, the company modifies artificial diamonds at the atomic level so that they can be used in sensors. The measurement principle is based on the disruption of the quantum properties of this defect through temperature, magnetic, and electric fields. This opens up a previously unexplored area of sensor technology and enables highly sensitive measurements at the atomic and molecular level.
The startup already has a working prototype. It now plans to use the fresh funding to hire additional engineers so the company can produce its first commercial product. The technology has applications in the semiconductor industry, but also in medical diagnostics and the Battery development.
