'The Spark – The German Digital Prize' is looking for Circular Economy startups

Startups active in the circular economy sector can now apply for the innovation competition "The Spark – The German Digital Award." The application period ends on June 18, 2023.

For the eighth time, 'The Spark – The German Digital Prize' will be awarded to startups whose ideas have the potential to fundamentally and sustainably change markets. This year, the competition, initiated by Handelsblatt and McKinsey, is all about Circular EconomyWe are looking for companies that use technology, processes, procedures, automation and digitalization or interfaces to improve the use of resources throughout the entire lifecycle.

The competition is aimed at innovative startups from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland that have established business models dedicated to the circular economy. All submitted applications and innovations will be evaluated based on four criteria: novelty, scalability, customer benefit, and social responsibility.

Application & Conditions of Participation

The tendering phase runs until 18 June 2023All applicant teams undergo a multi-stage selection process before the top ten finalists present themselves to the distinguished jury in live pitches. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on November 23.

Eligible to participate are young companies in the DACH region that have established business models dedicated to the circular economy. Furthermore, participating companies should have no more than 500 employees and should not be corporate startups, i.e., companies founded within an established company or with a majority stake held by an established company.
