Bavarian Energy Prize 2022: Apply now

The Bavarian Energy Prize is aimed at companies, institutes, and organizations that have successfully implemented an innovative energy project, applied a pioneering technology, or developed groundbreaking building solutions. Prize money of €30,000 is available.

Since 1999, the Bavarian Energy Prize awarded every two years by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs. Competition This year consists of a cross-category main prize and one prize each in these five categories:

• Energy distribution including network services – heat, electricity, gas, etc. as well as storage technologies,
• Energy generation – electricity, heat,‎
• system-compatible sector coupling – electricity, heat, mobility,
• Energy efficiency in industrial processes and production as well as energy efficiency networks,
• Buildings as energy systems/building concepts.

“Honoring innovative energy projects and cutting-edge technology with the Bavarian Energy Prize”

The prize money for all winners amounts to 30,000 euros, of which the main prize winner receives 10,000 euros. The Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy Hubert Aiwanger says:

"The energy transition thrives on the inventiveness and commitment of many stakeholders. Especially in Bavaria, bright minds are developing many exciting energy solutions that deserve recognition. We look forward to honoring innovative energy projects and cutting-edge technology with the Bavarian Energy Prize again in 2022. I invite companies, engineering and architectural firms, scientific institutes, as well as cities, districts, and municipalities to submit their projects. Outstanding energy solutions show us the way to a sustainable energy supply."

In addition to companies, cities, districts and municipalities, universities, and other research institutions are also eligible to apply. A jury of eight Bavarian university professors will select the best projects. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on October 19, 2022, at the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs in Munich. Click here to apply.
