The “Start Up Energy Transition Award” is an international competition for startups and young companies worldwide working on ideas related to the global energy transition and climate change. Over the past five years, the SET Award has received more than 2,700 applications from over 100 countries. SET is funded by the German Energy Agency (dena) in cooperation with the World Energy Council.
Next year, the SET Award will honor the most innovative and effective business models in the fields of energy transition and climate protection for the sixth time. It distinguishes between five categories:
- Clean energy generation
- Demand-side innovation
- Energy distribution and storage
- Smart Mobility & Transportation
- Quality energy access & SDG-7
The Application deadline is 31 January 2021The three best startups in each category will then be invited to present their ideas at the SET Initiative's annual meeting, the SET Tech Festival.
In addition to €10,000 in prize money, the winners will also receive a spot on the SET 100 list of the world's most innovative energy startups and a booth at the World Energy Congress in St. Petersburg. They will also receive access to SET's global network and other exclusive events.
