Hackathon #codebarrierefrei is looking for participants

The Bavarian State Ministry for Digital Affairs is seeking participants for the #codebarrierefrei hackathon. Registration is open until June 13.

Social participation is not possible without digital participation. Therefore, it is essential to further reduce barriers in the digital space. This is precisely what the Bavarian State Ministry for Digital Affairs' virtual hackathon, "#codebarrierefrei," aims to do on June 19 and 20. This two-day event aims to develop new solutions to existing challenges in the digital world and open up new living environments with digital tools. To implement these projects, the ministry is currently seeking suitable participants.

We are looking for people who

  • Enjoy developing new solutions,
  • are active in the field of software development, UI/UX design, data science, communications technology, marketing, image understanding, Internet of Things, virtual/augmented reality, machine learning or similar,
  • are affected by a disability, who would like to benefit from new solutions and be part of developing them,
  • Coaches and professionals in social institutions are
  • Part of university institutions or universities are

How can smart cities be made barrier-free?

The hackathon will take place virtually from 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 19, to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 20. The welcome address by Minister of State Gerlach and the keynote speech on Saturday, the presentation of the developed ideas and solutions, and the award ceremony on Sunday will be streamed publicly. To participate in the challenges, registration is required at www.codebarrierefrei-anmeldung.de required. The challenges will address topics such as how accessibility can be integrated into smart cities and how the usability of digital devices, apps, and software can be improved.
