#CoronaUpdate with Mecuris: "A very, very large mountain of supplies is currently being created"

Mecuris offers a digital platform that enables medical supply stores to manufacture customized orthoses and prostheses for their customers. Manuel Opitz, COO of Mecuris, reports in the #CoronaUpdate how his company has adapted to the coronavirus crisis.

Mecuris digitizes the work of orthopedic technicians, enabling them to work from home. At first glance, this product appears relatively crisis-proof. Nevertheless, Mecuris struggled with a sharp drop in sales. For example, the launch event for its new digital orthotic workshop had to be canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Manuel Opitz reported subsequently in our #CoronaUpdate:

“That was really painful”

At least the press event for the launch of the new workshop was able to take place online and, according to him, received a good response from journalists.

Mecuris: “We see great opportunities here in the long term”

Opitz sees the Corona situation as offering “great opportunities” for his company in the long term:

"A very, very large mountain of supplies is currently being built up, which customers are putting off. Just because only half of the patients can come to medical supply stores right now doesn't mean that the other half don't also have a need. This will have to be addressed at some point, and that requires efficient and, in our opinion, digital processes—and that's exactly what we're here for."
