Proglove is responding to current customer needs: In production, distribution, and logistics, there is a need for an intelligent solution that helps workers maintain an appropriate distance. The Munich-based startup now aims to address this need with an upgrade based on its Mark product family.
The new Proglove The Connect Proximity app aims to help workers maintain the correct distance from one another, whether they're on a production line, in a distribution center, or in a warehouse. To achieve this, the app leverages a new layer of the existing feedback option. Proximity can be used both standalone on an Android device and connected to a Proglove back-of-hand barcode scanner.
“We face the same challenges as our customers in resuming operations on site,”
commented Andreas König, CEO of Proglove, the further development.
"We also had to review our internal processes for safety and efficiency. Humans are creatures of habit and have a natural tendency to do things the way they've always done them. But the coronavirus has changed everything. Social distancing is now a must for a safe return to work."
The new solution sends an alert to workers in close proximity. This warning consists of a combination of audio sound, optical LED light, and haptic vibration. It can also be displayed on the Mark wearable barcode scanner.
Maintain a safe distance reliably
"We've tested the Mark upgrade on our own assembly line and are now rolling it out. It's not easy for my team to avoid falling back into old patterns. However, with this additional reminder, we can reliably maintain the safety distance."
thinks Konstantin Brunnbauer, Vice President Logistics and Production at ProGlove.
App upgrade free for existing customers
The new Proglove Connect Proximity app, currently in beta, represents the first phase of the company's software initiative to support social distancing in the workplace. Phase 2 will focus on making device-level proximity data available within Proglove's software application. Managers can use this information to quickly and easily identify bottlenecks in the warehouse and make changes to designs, schedules, or workflows.
The app upgrade is free for existing customers. The application can be used on Android devices alone or in conjunction with the Mark barcode scanner.
