Young people are the ones who most closely align their behavior with their role models—which is why Startup Teens created the Role Model Award. This award aims to highlight more founders, managers, and family entrepreneurs as role models. You can nominate your role models until March 31st.
Until now, role models for teenagers in Germany have tended to come from sports, film, social media, or music. The non-profit initiative Startup Teens wants to change that. The Role Model Award aims to highlight more founders, managers, and (family) entrepreneurs as role models for young people. This should inspire young people in this country to start their own businesses at a young age or to become intrapreneurs or entrepreneurs.
Startup Teens This addresses a concern of young people. 58 percent of 16- to 25-year-olds surveyed in a Yougov survey want more entrepreneurial role models, especially female ones.
Who you can nominate for the Role Models Award
Any founder, family business owner, or manager worldwide who serves as a role model for others, either personally or through their own company, is welcome to nominate. Self-nominations are also possible. Of course, there is no age limit for nominees; even a teenager can be a role model.
A jury will select the nominees by mid-April. The following criteria are important for the selection: personal integrity, modern empathetic leadership skills, charisma, innovativeness, and strong implementation skills.
After the selection and announcement of the nominated role models, you can choose your top 3 via online voting.
