Attention app developers and startups: Apply to the 'Apps4Muc' innovation competition if you have an innovative app idea that will make Munich more digital. You can receive up to €20,000 to help realize your solution. You can apply until September 20th.
The state capital Munich wants to become more digitalThe city council has therefore approved funding for this area. Now, up to 20 apps can receive up to €20,000 each. The city's IT department, which is issuing the call for proposals, considers the following aspects important:
- Each app must function independently and should be integrated into the Munich SmartCity App be integrable, for example via a link.
- The app is expected to run for at least one year.

Apps4Muc is looking for solutions for two topics
The 'Apps4Muc' innovation competition is seeking digital applications in two areas. First, digital solutions for a more citizen-oriented administration are sought, and second, ideas for improving the quality of life in individual neighborhoods. The apps are intended to make life easier for Munich's urban society or support the administration in doing just that. So, what exactly is the outcome of 'Apps4Muc'?
The first area, Neo-Government, aims to make administrative services more flexible and citizen-friendly, for example:
- Improve and/or expand information options for the City of Munich
- Make online administrative services more usable
- Developing innovative online services
- Providing digital offerings for special needs and/or target groups
Apps are intended to make life easier for Munich society
The second area, titled "Neo-Quartier," aims to improve the quality of life in urban neighborhoods. The focus here is on "togetherness." This includes, among other things, the following topics:
- Innovations that promote “modern coexistence” in a city
- Connecting people in the neighborhood and strengthening cooperation
- Promote neighborhoods and neighborhood assistance
- Improve everyday (administrative) life in the neighborhood and make life easier
- Enable and promote local offers in the neighborhood
Creative ideas with innovative technologies
What in Smart Together Project already works successfully The city of Munich now wants to apply this approach to the aforementioned areas of neo-government and neo-neighborhood. Startups, as well as teams from the IT community and developers of smartphone apps and mobile web apps, are eligible to apply. It is important to offer creative and compelling ideas or concrete solutions for the challenges mentioned. Also welcome in the 'Apps4Muc' innovation competition are innovative technologies such as voice control.
