On the Biovaria 2019 in Munich, one of the leading events for life science technologies, the two local startups Ferrosens and Eximmium the audience award.
The goal of Biovaria is to bring together Europe's top scientists and facilitate exchange with international pharmaceutical companies. The Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy is the patron of the event.
Biovaria 2019: Startup Pitch & Partners
At Biovaria, scientists from European research institutes, universities, and university hospitals once again presented their new life science technologies. Furthermore, as part of the Startup Pitch & Partner program, European life science startups presented their companies and had the opportunity to engage with potential investors and venture capitalists. The program also offers young companies the chance to receive support from industry experts. This year, the startup Mind.pax won the jury in the "Rising Startup" category of the pitch competition and was delighted to receive a prize of €3,000.
The award winners from Munich
Two Munich startups were also honored at Biovaria 2019. Ferrosens and Eximmium won the Audience Award. Ferrosens, founded in 2017, is a spin-off from Munich University Hospital. The startup has developed the FIDscreen, a portable measuring instrument that can quickly and effectively determine blood iron levels without blood sampling. Eximmium, a spin-off from the Helmholtz Center, impressed with its new process for producing antibodies against previously unknown tumor antigens. To achieve this, the team works with so-called extracellular vesicles, which automatically detach themselves from cells and contain immunologically important information.
