“The Royal Jungle is an international rave for startup rebels” — at least that's the self-description of the Munich startup event, which was founded by Christian Velbinger. Last week, The Royal Jungle took place at BMW Welt and we wanted to know: how was it?
Hello Chris, please explain to us briefly what The Royal Jungle Startup Rave
exactly and where the focus of the event liesWho is your target audience and how much rave is there really in it?
The Royal Jungle is a startup rave for 1,000 select startup rookies in Munich, always held in spectacular locations. Famous tech entrepreneurs share their stories on our stage and celebrate with the startup audience. Tickets are not for sale; you can only apply.
In addition to our major event in Munich, we host other events in other parts of the world. For example, we rented an entire castle in Scotland for 24 hours to hang out with select startups and DJs, listen to music, and drink whiskey. In New York, we moved The Royal Jungle into a fashion loft and hosted stars from the New York startup scene on stage. The Royal Jungle also takes to yachts in the Mediterranean or private jets, for example, on the way from Munich to London.
This year's The Royal Jungle took place early last week. What were your personal highlights?
The absolute highlight for me is always the moment of the opening. The moment when The Royal Jungle really happens! When all the talented startup founders stream into the spectacular location, when the DJ starts spinning, when the top stars go on stage and the people get their

experiencing it after months of planning is always incredibly cool!
And what was people’s feedback?
Of course, you always have to ask the guests, not the chef.
You visited the BMW Welt for the first time this year. How was it
the new location?
The Royal Jungle takes place in a different location every year. Every year,
and we find a location that is not yet used by the startup scene
or which is brand new. The double cone in the BMW Welt is definitely
one of the most spectacular locations in Munich, if not in the whole
Germany! We couldn't have asked for a better location for The Royal Jungle
can imagine. BMW stands for tech and
Innovation. We're truly delighted that BMW has made BMW Welt available to us!
So what's next? When is The Royal Jungle next?
Next up is The Royal Jungle World Tour, ten events in ten cities
around the globe, including London, New York, Silicon Valley, Sao Paulo,
Tokyo, Hong Kong, Tel Aviv, Singapore, Seoul and Miami. In May 2019, The
Royal Jungle then returns to his hometown, the best city on the planet,
Munich!
