More than a hackathon – with this promise, the Techfest will once again attract creatives, techies, innovators, designers, coders, hackers, and makers from all over the world to Garching from June 14 to 17, 2018. For artists and cultural professionals and other players in the cultural and creative industries from Munich, this year's Techfest is particularly exciting, as the Munich Cultural Department and the UnternehmerTUM are jointly awarding 15 participant places for the Techfest Munich.

This year, for the first time, the Munich Department of Cultural Affairs and UnternehmerTUM are awarding 15 places to Munich residents from the creative industries. The competition is aimed at artists and cultural professionals who explore the possibilities of digital technologies in their artistic practice or who consider them an integral part of their artistic work.

Applicants should be interested in working in interdisciplinary and international teams for three days, learning about the latest technologies, and engaging with hackers, makers, and companies. The perspectives of technology, design, and science will be expanded to include the perspective of art.

What is Techfest?
The Techfest is a kind of festival lasting 72 hours, where interdisciplinary and international teams can come together and develop ideas and concrete solutions. For prototype development, the teams have access to around 100 machines and gadgets in the 1,500 square meter MakerSpace the UnternehmerTUM is available.
