The state capital of Munich is launching its application phase for the newly created business award for women: Successful women who work in prominent leadership positions or have been successful as founders in the market for at least three years can now apply and compete for the “LaMonachia” award.
Attention female entrepreneurs in Munich: You can now nominate a candidate or apply for the City of Munich's new business award for women — "LaMonachia." Regarding the city's motivation for establishing this award specifically for women, the head of the Department of Labor and Economic Affairs, Mayor Josef Schmid, the following:
"With this award, we are highlighting the outstanding economic achievements of women. In doing so, we are creating role models and supporting women's economic equality."
True to the motto "You can't be what you can't see," the "LaMonachia" award aims to highlight the economic success of women. Commitment to the city's community also plays a role. The award's name was also chosen with care, as LaMonachia is the Latin term and allegory of the feminine Munich, depicted in two large paintings in Munich's City Hall. The symbol of LaMonachia is the lioness, who radiates strength, composure, and natural authority.

The application deadline for the business award is May 15, 2018. The winners will be selected by a jury of experts, and the awards ceremony will take place on July 17, 2018.
The prize can be awarded to up to two Munich women from the business world and is endowed with 3,000 euros.
