For the second time since 2016, the "Energy Start-up Bavaria" competition is being held. The award recognizes young companies with new ideas, business models, and technologies for a secure, affordable, and sustainable energy future for Bavaria. The winners will receive prizes totaling €17,500—and the opportunity to network with numerous potential investors and partners from the energy industry. The application period runs until August 15, 2018.
The "Energy Start-up Bavaria" competition aims to promote young companies and pioneers in the energy sector. The focus is on the major trends of digitalization, sector coupling, and energy storage. Supporters include the Zentrum Digitalisierung.Bayern (ZD.B), the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology, Bayern Innovativ, BayStartUP, Bayernwerk AG, the Association of the Bavarian Energy and Water Industry (VBEW) and Verbund AG .

Registration for the competition is online until August 15, 2018 with the Registration form and an attached pitch deck are available free of charge. All participating companies must have been founded in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland after January 1, 2014, and have a strong connection to Bavaria.
Final in Nuremberg — audience decides
Following the application phase, a jury will review the submitted projects and select the ten best applicants. These applicants will present their projects publicly at the "Energy Start-up Pitch" on October 18, 2018, at Studio Balan in Munich. The three best candidates, also selected by the jury, will compete again on November 15, 2018, as part of the Bavarian Energy Prize at the Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg. The winner will be voted on by the audience and announced live at the awards ceremony.
