Last week, digital leaders met at Munich Airport for DIGICON 2016. The pitch competition was won once again by Cleverciti, Winner of the Munich Startup Award.
Shaping digitalization: DIGICON 2016 was held under the motto "Future • Together • Shaping." Prof. Dr. Claudia Linnhoff-Popien, initiator of the event, welcomed the attendees, and TV presenter Nina Ruge hosted the program.
A pitch competition began in the morning. 24 companies had already applied in advance. A jury evaluated the submissions and pitted eight companies against each other in a battle. The audience then selected Cleverciti Systems and HYVE as finalists. The jury ultimately selected Cleverciti as the winner of the Munich Digital Innovation Award.
Various aspects of digitalization were subsequently explored in presentations and discussions. Norbert Gaus, Executive Vice President of Siemens AG, calmed fears about the future:
"Digitalization is from people for people and offers opportunities for everyone. As after every wave of innovation, give more jobs and not fewer."
Kurt Kapp, Head of Economic Development and Deputy Head of the Department of Labor and Economic Affairs of the City of Munich, called for action:
“Despite all the digitalization, it also needs peoplewho embrace digitalization and implement projects together.”
And Ralf Schneider, CIO of Allianz, said:
“We need to introduce our children to digitalisation topics in a playful way.”
