Do-it-yourselfers on Munich's most exclusive shopping street: Throughout June, the pop-up makerspace MAKERIA will be at Maximilanstraße 33.
At MAKERIA, visitors can marvel at the ideas and products of Munich's makers and learn everything they need to know to become a maker themselves in workshops. A special highlight is the Pepper service robot: a 1.50-meter-tall humanoid robot from Softbank.
“Maker scene exemplary for business location”
Today, Munich's Economic Mayor, Josef Schmid, Head of the Department of Labor and Economic Affairs, is visiting MAKERIA. He is impressed by the project and praises the makers: "

"Temporary use is a useful tool for promoting creative micro-enterprises. In doing so, the city supports their entrepreneurial success and increases their visibility. This makes Munich a more attractive location for this industry. The technology-loving tinkerers of the maker scene, with their curiosity, inventiveness, and innovations, are exemplary for the business location."
Since December 2015, the shop on Maximilianstraße has been used by a regularly changing Munich creative community through an initiative of the City of Munich. MAKERIA is operated by Make Germany GmbH, a social enterprise with the goal of promoting and networking the maker scene, and raising awareness among the general public. Make Germany GmbH also hosts the "Make Munich", Southern Germany's largest maker and DIY festival. MAKERIA is open until June 30th, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The interim use of the shop at Maximilianstraße 33 is made possible with the support of the Department of Culture, the Department of Municipal Affairs and the Competence Team for the Cultural and Creative Industries of the City of Munich.
Further information about MAKERIA can be found on the project’s Facebook page.
