The Munich Startup Pina Earth and the Austrian company Tree.ly are joining forces. The goal of the new entity is to become Europe's leading tech platform for forest climate protection projects. By combining software, project development, and sales, the companies aim to offer forest owners and corporate customers a scalable and transparent service.
According to the companies, the merger will create a joint portfolio of over 80,000 hectares of forest land, more than 500,000 tons of CO2 from certified projects, and a network of over 100 corporate customers. Geographically, the company now covers Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Italy, and Hungary.
Pina Earth includes, among other things, a specially developed forest simulation software, which will be available on the Tree.ly platform This allows projects to be implemented under various standards and methodologies such as Improved Forest Management (IFM), reforestation, or forest conversion – regardless of location or size of the forest stand.
"We founded Pina Earth to preserve Europe's forests for future generations. I'm thrilled to be working with Tree.ly to scale our impact even faster – and offer companies the regional, high-quality climate protection projects they're looking for,"
says Gesa Biermann, co-founder of Pina Earth.
Largest developer of forest climate projects in Europe
The merger creates market leadership in the DACH region. Companies benefit from an expanded portfolio of nature-based projects, a high certificate volume, and a focus on biodiversity and regionality. For forest owners, project certification is simplified and they gain access to a broader network of buyers.
"Technology is the only way to achieve climate goals on the necessary scale. With this merger, we are uniting the best technologies and teams in the market to implement forest climate protection projects faster, easier, and more reliably – for forest owners and buyers,"
explained Jodok Batlogg, Co-founder and CEO of Tree.ly.
Tree.ly founders Jodok Batlogg and Christian Lutz will assume operational management. Gesa Biermann and Florian Fincke will transition to strategic advisory roles. Biermann comments:
"After the intensive development phase, now is the right time to hand over operational leadership. The merger opens a new phase of growth, and I am excited to support it strategically – with a focus on impact, partnerships, and governance."
The new organization operates under the brand Pina Earth and operates locations in Munich, Berlin, and Dornbirn. The focus in the coming months will be on integration, sales expansion, further development of the technology platform, and preparation for a Series A financing round.
