Last October, due to economic challenges, Camperboys GmbH and its camper rental company Off suspended operations. insolvency applicationThe stated goal at the time was to find a new investor and continue the business with their help.
This plan didn't work out, but now there's some positive news. Vanever, the camper rental company of Freeventure GmbH, has decided to take over parts of Off's business. This means the Hamburg location and significant parts of the existing back office and station team will continue to operate. Under the new leadership of Philipp J. Jacke, founder and CEO of Vanever, both the team spirit and the quality of service will be maintained.
Philipp J. Jacke, CEO of Vanever, says:
"We are preserving the essence of what makes Off so special and are now bringing these strengths to Vanever. We have acquired our most valuable resources, such as the team, the technology, and the Hamburg location, and will continue to ensure exceptional travel experiences for camper-loving customers with the continuity and reliability they expect."
Customers can continue to use the Website Rent campervans and motorhomes from Off. Vanever will now handle bookings to ensure a seamless transition. In addition to the Hamburg location, which was acquired from Off, Vanever already operates locations in Munich, Salzburg, Münster, and Augsburg.
Combining the best of Off and Vanever
As part of the acquisition, a forward-looking business model was introduced that specifically addresses the challenges of the past. Vanever relies on a modern partner fleet and has not acquired any vehicles from Off. Instead, specialized dealers and conversion companies provide campervans and take them back at the end of the season. This allows Vanever to fully focus on its core rental business.
To complement this model, Vanever continues to work with Off's rental software, which enables efficient management. Together, this creates a more flexible and sustainable strategy that will prepare the company for the future. Vanever CEO Philipp J. Jacke plans to decide on the future, consistent brand positioning in the coming weeks.
