Nui Care co-founder awarded Bavarian Digital Prize

Nui Care co-founder and CEO Markus C. Müller was honored with the Bavarian Digital Award B.DiGiTAL 2024 by Digital Minister Fabian Mehring at the Munich Digital Summit for his innovative care app. The ceremony took place as part of the Bavarian Digital Summit, where Bavaria's digital pioneers were honored by Minister President Markus Söder and Digital Minister Fabian Mehring.

The NuiThe app supports family caregivers in organizing care tasks and applying for care benefits. It also offers a one-stop shop for everything related to care with a team of care experts. At the awards ceremony, Mehring acknowledged Müller's career in the digital industry as well as his volunteer work as a hospice companion and board member of the hospice service. DaSein eV in Munich.

In 2018, the former CEO of BlackBerry Europe founded the startup Nui Care together with Christian Ehl. The team of nursing and IT experts, as well as family caregivers, developed the associated app, which has been providing digital care support and advice since 2020. According to Müller, the impetus for the company's founding came from his volunteer work as a hospice companion, where he experienced the enormous burden placed on family caregivers. With Nui, he now combines his entrepreneurial expertise with his experience as a hospice companion. Markus C. Müller was visibly pleased with the award:

"I'm delighted to receive this award, which demonstrates that hybrid care is becoming increasingly relevant, even at the political level. With our app, we support Germany's largest care service: the approximately 8 million family caregivers. The app offers a digital contact point that provides everything from a single source – from quick applications and answers to individual questions to personal support. Through artificial intelligence, we want to make the app even more personal, simplify interactions, and adapt it to individual needs. We want to make the care of tomorrow more efficient and give family caregivers more time for what matters most."

“Nui uniquely combines modern technology with human empathy”

Minister of State for Digital Affairs, Fabian Mehring says in the context of the award:

"With the Nui app, Markus C. Müller impressively demonstrates that future technologies are no longer just a science fiction nightmare, but can actually improve people's lives today. With his Nui app, digitalization is not an end in itself. Instead, people are at the center of digital progress. Nui uniquely combines modern technology with human empathy and brings tangible improvements for people in need of care and their families. In this way, smart digitalization makes a positive contribution to overcoming the enormous demographic challenges our country faces in the care sector – both innovative and humane. As co-founder and CEO of Nui, Markus Müller has reconciled technical progress and human empathy. For him, it is clear that true innovation arises precisely where technology benefits people. With the Bavarian Digital Award B.DiGiTAL 2024, we honor Mr. Müller's innovative strength and courageous entrepreneurial spirit. He is a highly worthy winner and a shining example for our Bavarian Understanding of digital transformation, which always focuses on the well-being of the people in our homeland.”
