First place in the 'Individuals and Volunteer Groups' category went to the Munich-based digital sign language interpreter Signae. Second prize also went to Munich: Engagio, which connects citizens with public administration, was honored for its work. Third prize went to the Kulmbach-based project 'Accessibility in Web Design'.
More than 150 projects submitted for B.Digital digital award
"The response to our competition was tremendous. Around 150 impressive projects for digital participation were submitted. I would like to thank all participants from the bottom of my heart. They are all winners, because their efforts are opening up the digital world a little further for everyone. Our citizens, in particular, benefit from this,"
says the Bavarian Digital Minister Judith Gerlach.
"But of course, our winners also deserve the spotlight. I am delighted to present the first Bavarian Digital Prize to them. With their projects and ideas for digital participation, they impressed both us on the jury and the citizens in the online voting. They can now rightly and proudly call themselves the winners of the first Bavarian Digital Prize, B.Digital 2021. I wish them continued success in their implementation and look forward to seeing the first-place projects again at our Bavarian Digital Summit, Code Bavaria."
The winning projects were selected half by online voting and half by a jury. The jury included Digital Minister Judith Gerlach, the Bavarian State Government's Commissioner for People with Disabilities Holger Kiesel, former ski racer Maria Höfl-Riesch, the Managing Director of the D21 initiative Lena-Sophie Müller, the CEO of the Zollhof Tech Incubator Benjamin Bauer, and the entrepreneur and co-founder of Bits & Pretzels Andreas Bruckschlögl.
