Startup Champs goes Fintech: Apply now!

The pitch competition "Startup Champs goes Fintech" seeks the best innovations from Germany's startup hotspots of Munich, Berlin, Hamburg, and Cologne. Munich Startup is the competition's official partner.

The competition Startup Champs is looking for Germany's fintech startup of 2024. Young founders who combine finance and technology to offer innovative financial services are given a platform here. From payment platforms and digital banking to innovative investment and insurance solutions, all are welcome to participate in the competition.

Fintech startups can apply and upload their pitch decks until April 1, 2024. Following this, the preliminary round will take place: Three finalists will be selected in each of the four partner cities (Munich, Berlin, Hamburg, and Cologne). These finalists will then meet in Berlin on April 24 and 25, 2024, for FIBE – Fintech Festival Berlin and pitch live in front of a panel of experts at the Startup Champs final. At the end of the competition, not only regional winners will be chosen in the four cities, but also a German Startup Champ!

All finalists will receive a ticket to FIBE. The regional champions will also have the opportunity to participate in Slush 2024 in Helsinki. In addition to a free ticket, the startups will also receive a presence at the Startup Champs joint booth. Further prizes are to be announced.

Deepeye Medical has won Startup Champs 2023

Startups that were officially founded no more than five years ago by March 1, 2024, and have a registered branch in the economic region of Cologne, Hamburg, Berlin, or Munich are eligible to apply for the "Startup Champs goes FinTech" pitch competition. The startup's business model/products/services must demonstrate a clear connection to the focus topic of FinTech and demonstrably pursue an innovative and scalable approach. Furthermore, a functional or demonstrable prototype or a feasible or demonstrable service must already exist.

Last year, the competition took place in Munich under the motto “Startup Champs goes Digital Health”, and the title of German Startup Champ was secured by the Munich-based startup Deepeye Medical. The startup thus brought the title to Munich for the second time in a row. Manuel Opitz, one of the founders and managing directors of Deepeye Medical, commented on the victory at the time.

"Startup Champs was a complete success for us. It was impressive that Germany's four biggest startup hotspots gathered in Munich for the days. We already knew some of the faces from the press, and the direct interaction was an added value for us. We are delighted to emerge as the German winner with Deepeye Medical against such strong competition."
