This year’s LaMonachia award winners include Catherine Demeter, chairwoman of the Edith Haberland Foundation and chairwoman of the shareholders’ meeting of Augustiner-Bräu Wagner KG, and Christina Ramgraber, founder and managing director of Sira Projects and Sira ChildcareThe third award went to Günes Seyfarth, the owner of the Community Kitchen and managing director of the management consultancy MacGyvers.
The Second Mayor Katrin Habenschaden presented the business award to the entrepreneurs and commented:
"I am delighted with the many applicants and thank them on behalf of the City of Munich. With their business ideas, their innovative strength, and above all, their tireless entrepreneurial commitment, they are creating jobs and enriching Munich as a business location."
However, Habenschaden added that this should not obscure the fact that there is still a need for further action regarding professional equality for women in the workplace. Around one-third of the self-employed, both in Bavaria and nationwide, are women. But women need more female role modelswhen it comes to starting their own businesses. The LaMonachia award provides a remedy for this, as it makes women in Munich's economy more visible.
The price was awarded for the fourth time this year. The candidates represent the diversity of Munich's female entrepreneurial landscape: A quarter work in business-related services, one of Munich's strongest economic sectors. Traditional industries such as construction and the tech/IT sector are also represented. All three award winners equally impressed the jury as role models for successful, innovative, and committed business.
A jury composed of representatives from business, chambers of commerce, and the Munich City Council selected the three award winners. The jury's decision was based on economic success, innovation, and commitment. The award winners will each receive a lioness ornament and €3,000 in prize money.
