At the end of March Planetics publicly announced that it was looking for a strategic partner to take over the platform. Over the past two months, discussions have been held with various interested parties. Fabian Hörst, co-founder and managing director of Planetics, says:
"We were very positively surprised by the great response from customers, business partners, and other stakeholders when we shared our situation. But the number of interested parties was also higher than expected."
Planetics remains
Ultimately, an agreement was reached with Khulula. The company develops its own products made from natural fiber composites and advises clubs and companies on their path to greater sustainability.
"Right from the start of the exchange, there was a very trusting atmosphere, characterized above all by openness on both sides. This contributed to a quick agreement. The process was always fair and transparent, something we'd often experienced differently in the past. For us founders, in addition to the commercial component, it was equally important that Planetics and what we had created could continue to exist. We found all of this reflected in Khulula, which is why we – together with our shareholders – agreed to it."
explains Fabian Hörst.
Specifically, this means that Khulula will take over all essential assets for the continued operation of Planetics.de. However, the founding trio of Alexandros Taflanidis, Fabian Hörst, and Raphael Breitner will no longer be involved in the company.
“More sport, more sustainability, even more impact”
Holger Ambroselli, Co-founder and Managing Director of Khulula comments on the concluded deal as follows and at the same time gives a first insight into Khulula's plans for Planetics.de:
"We are very happy to have the opportunity to take over such a great platform. Both companies share the same vision of sustainably transforming the sports industry for the benefit of the planet. Therefore, we will take over Planetics as it is and gradually expand it with additional topics. One topic will be outdoor sports, which is anchored in our DNA and played a major role in motivating Simon and me when we founded Khulula. In this respect, you could also say: more sports, more sustainability, even more impact! We are very excited about our new challenge and remain open to new ideas and support, because we are fully aware of how difficult the online market is at the moment."
