Series A: 13 million euros for Build38

Following a pre-Series A financing round in January 2021, Build38 has now secured a €13 million investment in a Series A. The round is led by Tikehau Capital, with existing investors Ecapital Entrepreneuria Partners and Caixa Capital Risc also participating again.

Build38 develops mobile application protection solutions that combine AI-powered threat intelligence and app shielding technologies. The app security startup, which was founded in 2018 as a corporate spin-out of Giesecke+Devrient, protects applications across various industries, including finance, digital identities, public transportation, automotive, and healthcare. With this newly raised capital, Build38 aims to accelerate the growth of its mobile app security solutions worldwide and add new analytics and AI capabilities to its platform.

“Mobile applications play a critical role in the functioning of today’s digital society, but we continue to see security incidents cause serious reputational and financial damage to companies around the world,”

says Christian Schläger, CEO of Build38.

"As the mobile threat landscape evolves and attacks become increasingly sophisticated, our mission is to provide continuous protection and threat intelligence for both business-critical and everyday applications. We are honored to welcome Tikehau Capital as a strategic partner in this mission and to find support for the coming phase of growth."

Build38: Cyber Defense of Tomorrow

Augustin Blanchard, Executive Director at Tikehau Capital, says:

"Application security is one of the fastest-growing sub-segments of cybersecurity. Build38 is at the core of tomorrow's cyber defense by protecting applications, not just networks and computers. We are proud to support this outstanding team with its excellent capabilities in this round, which will help position Build38 as a leading mobile AppSec provider."
