HOGA is looking for gastronomy startups

Startups that have developed ideas for the hospitality industry can apply for the HOGA's 'Gastro Innovation Award' until November 2nd.

With its 'Gastro Innovation Award,' Bavaria's hospitality trade fair HOGA is seeking startups that have developed innovative ideas for the hospitality industry, are working on technical or digital solutions for modern hotels and restaurants, or could present innovations in the food & beverage sector. Interested startups can apply for the competition until November 2nd. The eight best submissions will be selected by an expert jury led by 'Lion's Den' investor Dagmar Wöhrl and evaluated in a live pitch on January 15, 2023, at the HOGA.

The three best gastronomy startups will each receive a 4-square-meter booth valued at €1,450 during HOGA. The trade fair will take place from January 15 to 17 in Nuremberg. The winners will also receive a marketing budget of €2,000. The top three will also have the opportunity to present at GastroFrühling—an industry gathering at the Munich Spring Festival—and their own free booth at the Bavarian Host Day.

Applications open until November 2nd

Participate Anyone who wants to enrich the Bavarian hospitality industry with their ideas can apply. The organizer lists "restaurateurs, brewers, winemakers, food truckers, bakers, butchers, confectioners, bar owners, café owners, and caterers" as examples of applicants. The submitted product may still be in the prototype phase or already be available on the market. The application deadline is November 2, 2022.

At the first HOGA startup competition in 2019, the now no longer active Munich startup Brewee with its brewing concept. In 2021, the Berlin-based startup Nordic Oceanfruit won the competition. The young company impressed the jury with its sustainable seaweed salads, which it has now successfully launched on the market.
